Tempest - Breaking The Mold - How to Counteract Clone Culture  - What does it take to develop unique personal style in your dancing? Where's the line between imitation and inspiration? In this workshop, through combined lecture and hips-on technique, we'll look at what fosters positive growth, helps develop individuality and distinct creativity, and what to avoid in both teaching and learning to avoid cloning.

12:30pm-2:30pm

Maia Alexandra - Abs 101: Putting the BELLY back into Belly Dance!  Appropriate for many styles of the dance, this workshop will focus on clean techniques for belly rolls, pops, and flutters. Maia Alexandra will begin by teaching floor and standing exercises to locate and isolate your abdominal muscles, breaking down the movements fully. Then you will learn fun new ways of using these awesome crowd pleasing moves in creative combinations!(Please do not eat a large meal prior to workshop.)

3pm- 5pm

Kaeshi Chai - Combo Platter - 
Learn 3 combos in the styles of Oriental, Fusion and Gypsy from Kaeshi Chai who is renown for her versatility as a performer and instructor. Kaeshi draws upon her extensive experience performing internationally for all walks of life in many different venues to bring you a workshop that will also enable you to effectively reach your audience by learning how to modify your dance style to suit each unique situation. By the end of this workshop, you will have greater confidence with how to tackle a variety of performance opportunities.

Belladonna – Body Balancing and Belly Dance combinations, the Bohemian Way. Learn a series of Belladonna's signature sword moves, body balances and transitions. As a sword dancer it is important to Belladonna to be a master of her weapon. In this workshop you will work on tricky body balances as well as creating smooth and powerful transitions!

Casey Bond – Performing to LIVE MUSIC: Rhythms & Songs for Drummers & Dancers! - There's nothing like the thrill of performing with a live band, like Scott Wilson & Efendi. Here's an opportunity to take your live drumming/dancing skills to the next level at a fun, no pressure workshop! Percussionist/teacher Casey Bond will share tips, tricks and techniques for dancers and the percussionists that love to play for them! Dancers will learn to recognize the rhythms and "breaks" in 5 Favorite Belly Dance Songs. Drummers will learn to accompany live melody! Live music by famed NYC bandleader Scott Wilson! Learn dancer/drummer communication skills and watch your Drum Solos come alive with practical belly dance demos by the lovely Leni Cohen! Will conclude with a music and dance "hafla-style" jam with Scott, Leni and Casey for all participants! Open to all levels but novice/beginner drummers and dancers who are nervous performing to live music and live drum solos are especially welcome! Please bring doumbek, bass doumbek and /or zills.

Tempest - Between the Veils - Discover the darker side of veilwork, from dramatic entrances, intricate and intimate veilplay, to exiting with a flourish that will leave 'em wanting more. Learn to truly dance with your veil and tame its inner cat, see it as a partner and not a prop. We'll cover proper veil technique, fusion movements and accents, pros and cons of materials and presentations, and making effective use of your veil. Be sure to bring at least one three yard veil-rectangular or circular - can be silk, chiffon, or other light, flowing material. All levels welcome

Vikki Gale - "Get Connected" - Dance is a celebration... don't celebrate alone!  Learn creative combos with a focus on interaction between dancers, adding dynamic shapes and a bit of sass to your dance.  While designed for group improvisation, these combos translate well into choreography and/or solo dancing.  NO PARTNER NECESSARY!!  Just bring yourself and the desire to have some fun!!!
