Frank Farinaro - Funky Geometry/Suggestion of Shapes: Explore some of the more slow and serpentine aspects of Tribal bellydance and fuse it with Contemporary Modern dances. We learn how to create strange shapes and lines with the body that present the illusions of extreme length and bonelessness. We use the suggestion of shapes that layer and flow through levels of the body and create lines that morph the silhouette. We then layer moves over these funky frames to give an eerie and inhuman aesthetic to any performance.

10am - 12pm

Class Rate $45

Anasma - Character Development: ”Liquid Snaky Moves” Whether you are a fusion dancer or a classic belly dancers, the Liquid snaky moves will bring new dimension to your dancing!  Using waving techniques, her strong floorwork techniques, deep theatrical root and a lot of creativity, Anasma adapts her Hip Hop Bellydance Liquid Fusion to offer hissing and flowing moves and develop character of the snake, Whether it  is an Anaconda, Cobra, Viper, or a Brown Water snake,  tempting Eve or protecting Medusa’s head, this animal represents power, flexibility, extreme smoothness, temptation and danger.  It’s cold body needs heat and it changes skin regularly.  It is the feared and revered.  Embodying the snake more literally of more figuratively, we will focus specifically on hand and arms, then on the body, dancing on multiple planes (using for, the different axes surrounding the body).

12:30pm - 2:30pm

Class Rate $45

Maia Alexandra - An Unconventional Taqsim: (Choreography) The word taqsim means “division”, and it is the soloist improvisational section of music. Sometimes slow and meaningful as an introduction to the melodic line or maqam (Arabic scale), sometimes fast and sharp as a “show off” section for the musician's talents (like a drum solo), taqsim is a vital component in the well rounded dancer's arsenal. This choreography has gushy moments, playful moments, and just a hint of sass. What makes it unconventional, you ask? Well, the music for starters...  (For mixed level dancers who have at least solid basics).
